Do I really need a destination wedding planner?

This is something we get asked a lot, and the truth is, it depends on how much work (and stress) you are willing to take on, and how much time you have to dedicate to wedding planning.
Wedding planning in your own country can be intense, and, let’s be honest, it isn’t always fun or easy for the bridal couple the whole way through.
Consider all the usual purchases, details, negotiations and information needed to plan a wedding, then multiply them by a language barrier, a different culture and foreign currency! All of the planning and tasks you need to do are amplified when organising a destination wedding. We can’t emphasise enough how much of a relief it will be to have someone who spends a lot of time in Italy and  can speak Italian to your vendors, to negotiate for you, and to take care of the bureaucracy. They will know how to approach vendors, when to fight for you and when it’s not worth it. They are the bridge between the two different cultures, and that is essential when planning a destination wedding.
A great wedding planner will become your best friend, personal assistant, travel agent and more. They will take care of the somewhat less glamorous elements of your plans, whilst you decide how much or how little you would like to organise yourself. They will guide you when you are insecure, and they will ALWAYS be on your side.

Can I legally get married in Italy?

Absolutely. The three options when getting married in Italy are:
Religious Ceremony
Civil Ceremony
Symbolic Ceremony

Many Italians get married in Catholic churches, which is also possible for foreign couples if you are both Catholic. If you are of a different religion but still would like to have a religious ceremony, it is possible – however, you are likely to need a civil ceremony elsewhere first.
You can also get legally married with a Civil Ceremony in a Town Hall. Traditionally Italian couples go to the Town Hall in the morning, then the whole party travel to the chosen location for the wedding reception. There are also a few selected wedding venues in Italy that are licensed to hold a Civil Ceremony, so it is possible to have both your Ceremony and reception held in the same venue.
For UK couples the legal process should start 6 months before the wedding, so give yourself plenty of time when enquiring with a wedding planner!
Many foreign couples choose a Symbolic Ceremony. That means they will get legally married in a civil ceremony in their own country, and then hold a non-binding ceremony in Italy. This is a great choice if you want to make sure ceremony and meal are at the same venue. You will also be able to completely personalise the ceremony and tailor it to your needs.

How much will my Italian wedding cost?

To estimate the cost of an Italian wedding, there are various factors to consider:
The area you choose (some areas in Italy are more expensive than others. For example, areas like Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast will require a higher budget compared to other regions).
Guest numbers: Ultimately, numbers equal cost, so the more you invite the more budget will have to be considered for catering costs.
Supplier selection: vendors come in all shapes, sizes and price! Who you end up choosing and the type of service will be a key factor in your final budget.
Complexity of design: the flowers and décor will impact significantly on the overall budget, so it is important to consider this at the start of your planning.
Part of our process is to determine the feasibility of your event during your initial consultation. That is why we like to be honest and straight forward from the very beginning, outlining the various costs you might end up encountering based on your requirements.
Typically, for an Italian wedding, we would suggest an investment of around €1000 per invited guest.

Question 4

How much of our wedding will we have to pay in advance?

Paying for a wedding in Italy is a gradual process: All venues and suppliers will ask for an initial deposit to be settled at the time of booking, with the remainder to be paid either in instalments or cash on the day, so you won’t be expected to pay for all the services in advance. Also, so many suppliers in Italy are extremely flexible and will accommodate almost any payment schedule.

Will you be there on our wedding day?

Of course. On-the-day coordination is included in our Complete Planning Package, so we will be there making sure nothing is left to chance!

Are we able to meet you in person?

We love meeting our couples in person over a coffee or a glass of wine! Usually, we would try and schedule our first and/or last meeting in person if distance allows, however in the past few years Zoom meetings have become the norm, and they work just as effectively.

Question 7

How do you keep in touch with your couples?

Our way of working is very much ‘hands on’ and we like our couples to be able to easily get in touch with us and vice versa, so we create a WhatsApp group for each of our couples for ease of communication and for any other documentation we work with email.

What is your booking process?

Following your first consultation, we will send you our Client Proposal for your perusal, followed by our contract. Once you are happy and ready to go ahead, we ask that you sign it and send it back to us, along with an initial deposit. Once this is in place, we will schedule our first introductory meeting to get the ball rolling!
